Noam Chomsky

IRC 25th Anniversary Celebration

In January 2005 IRC /  International Relations Center celebrated it's 25th anniversary in Santa Fe, NM.  Noam Chomsky, who served on the board of IRC for more than 15 years, was the guest of honor.

In addition to a sold out appearance Santa Fe's historic Lensic Theater where he engaged in an interview and discussion with noted journalist and activist Tariq Ali, the activities included two private gatherings of IRC supporters where they could ask questions and Noam responded at length on issues including, Palestine, the War on Terror, dysfunctional electoral process, nuclear weapons, global warming, and how we can get out of Iraq and move toward a more just and democratic society.  These gatherings are the subject of this program.

International Relations Center has been for many a well kept secret though much appreciated by journalists, activists, and the community of progressive media for its well researched and nuanced analysis of international issues.  The organization closed its doors in 2007 and has now "evolved into a series of projects" that have become part of other organizations.

IRC's FPIF / Foreign Policy In Focus - A Think Tank Without Walls - was managed for many years in partnership with the even older progressive think tank IPS / Institute for Policy Studies in Washington, DC.  IPS has now assumed operations of FPIF which is a network of hundreds of journalists, scholars and activists worldwide with expertise in all regoins and all issues.

The Americas Program is the outgrowth of IRC's original area of expertise in border, labor and migration issues and now covers all of Latin America and the Carribean.  The Americas Program has now become part of CIP / Center for International Policy and continues its work on the new dynamics of Latin America and the emerging Center Left movement that has, in a very short time, transformed relations between Latin America and its bullying northern neighbor.

Right Web continues under the banner of PRA / Political Research Associates and provides individual and organizational profiles of the neoconservative, paleoconservative and militarist camp and the tracks the ideological, strategic and financial interconnects between them with a focus on the War on Terror and the Middle East.
