Michael Robinson's work for the Center for
Biological Diversity includes
advocacy for recovery of wolves, jaguars and grizzly bears and education
about the history and current successes of the Endangered Species Act.
Michael holds an M.A. in literature from the Univ. of Colorado at
Boulder
and a B.A. from the University. of Texas at Austin. He has
authored dozens of
articles and opinion pieces on conservation issues that have appeared
in publications ranging from High Country News to the New York
Times.
He is author of Predatory Bureaucracy: The Exter- mination
of Wolves and the Transformation of the West (University Press of
Colorado, 2005). It has been praised by reviewers as "bringing "history
to life," "a work of tremendous scholarship," and "a beautifully
written book that captures the feel of western landscapes and the ethos
of early 20th century America with an eloquence unusual for a weighty,
scholarly book."
Most folks think of spring as a
wonderfully moderate time of year, the trees start leafing out, you can
leave the windows open as you sleep, and there's no frost in the
morning.
But the political heat has been turned up a notch here in
Grant as our County Commissioners - supposedly Democrats - have taken
their marching orders from the Grant County Cattle Growers, Gila Fish
and Gun Club, and the field officers of Stevan Pearce and the ethically challenged Pete Dominici by passing
resolution R-07-11. Oh, did
I mention that Catron County is in on it too?
